Nice is a best know for its sandy beaches, for decades people have been walking along the famous Promenade des Anglias, or Promenade of the English.

Whilst the summer months are the preferred stay, the gentle winters offer a haven for those wishing to escape the cold English weather.

The Promenade des Anglias is often the only link its would be visitors can make with Nice, however Nice has so much more to offer. Hidden past the bustling city centre and the impressive luxury hotels is the picturesque old town, the Vieux Nice.

The old town looks and feels as you would have imagined it two centuries ago. With its narrow shady streets and cosy little squares jumbled with pastel houses it makes for a must see visit. As the evening turns to night the old town performs a magically transformation and the air is not filled with history and romance but rather it is filled with the rhythm of the nearby bars and nightclubs.
The tourists are replaced by gangs of young clubbers that like to party until the early hours in the vast open air spaces. So if you like to party to the early hours of the morning then you won’t be disappointed in the old town.

Deep into the heart of the old town is the Place Rossetti, following the narrow, winding, shady streets of the old town leads you to this oasis of light.

Red and yellow ochre’s surround the square with the Cathédrale Sainte Réparate having pride of place. By day this space is filled with the smells of restaurants and is home to the finest ice cream makers.

Like the rest of the old town the Place Rossetti also undergoes a transformation at night when music reverberates the walls of this small square.

If you would prefer something a little more tranquil the Port really slows thing down and even makes you forget that you are in one of the biggest cities in France.
The calm crystal clear blue waters offer a much needed contrast to the glitz of the old town. Here you will find historic treasures and a handful of great restaurants where you can watch the millionaires’ yachts flow by and of course day dream of owning one yourself one day.

For the best views of Nice a visit to Mont Boron is a must. This is a little far to go by foot so you will have to take a car or use public transport, however this trip is worth the effort.

This area has all the charm you would expect from an exclusive neighbourhood. The mixture of the cool sea breeze and the panoramic views can be seen to have impacted its inhabitants as they seem to adopt a more placid way of life.
